Healthcare Professionals have at their disposal
when they visit a patient, that patient’s entire
visit history. This means that they have a record of who
made the
last visit,
the circumstances of the visit and the outcome of the visit,
for example, whether a hospital visit was averted. Thus patients
see a greater continuity of care as the Healthcare Professional
always has a clear picture of the last visit. SafeHands holds test information from lung capacity and blood
pressure to the latest cholesterol result. This enables better
clinical assessments as current results can always be viewed
in relation to previous results.
SafeHands displays in a user friendly format, all the medications
(names, doses, frequencies) that a patient is currently taking,
and also, at a touch of the screen, all the medications that
the patient has taken historically.
SafeHands enables a clinical protocol
library to be built up to reflect locally evidenced based care
pathways. During a patient visit the Healthcare Professional
therefore has at their disposal the latest best practice.
At a practical level use of SafeHands
means entering the data once. The data is entered
onto the mobile unit at the patient location. A summary of
the visit can be printed out via a portable printer. The information
could be downloaded directly into the GP’s system. The
information is finally synchronised into the Central Management
System.
The SafeHands Central Management System allows
control and maintenance of standing data by a system administrator.
